Transitional Kindergarten

TK is a program that builds a bridge between early learning years and traditional kindergarten.  TK is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program and provides children an opportunity to learn important academic and social skills in a hands-on manner that supports their development. The program is based on the California Preschool Foundations with focused instruction in literacy and numeracy along with a strong emphasis on self-regulation and social engagement.  Our TK program follows the full day schedule of our kindergarten program.

TK Enrollment Update: TK age eligibility range has been extended beginning with the 2022-23 school year and will expand again for 2023-24.

Recent CA legislation has extended the Transitional Kindergarten age eligibility for the 2022-23 school year.

In the 2022–23 school year, a child who will have their fifth birthday between September 2 and February 2 shall be admitted to a transitional kindergarten program maintained by the school district or charter school.

The district has accelerated California’s new age eligibility for Transitional Kindergarten classrooms so that all TK classrooms will be Universal TK in 2023-24 and a child who will have their fifth birthday between September 2 and September 1 shall be admitted to a transitional kindergarten program maintained by the school district or affiliated charter school.
